Executive Team

RICHARD GENGLER: Founder and CEO

Richard comes to Prevail with nine years of experience as a US Navy pilot. He flew the F/A 18 Hornet, and was also an operational test pilot. He oversaw the test and evaluation of several key weapons systems and gained extensive experience in business operations and product development. Richard co-founded Prevail Health Solutions while completing the MBA program at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.

MICHAEL AMIET: Director of Strategy and Business Development

Michael is a graduate of the University of Chicago’s dual JD/MBA Program and brings a wide range of experience to his role at Prevail. He understands the legal issues relevant to the company, having served as counsel to several early-stage companies while working for the Institute for Justice. More recently, Michael left law to join the Boston Consulting Group, where he helped top players in the healthcare industry answer questions related to strategy, operations, and organization.

PETER GENGLER: Director of Technology

Peter was a key contributor to the development of both the Xbox and Xbox 360. Before leaving Microsoft he was responsible for tools and technology in the Xbox Architecture group. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Masters of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington-Seattle. Having gained exposure to a wide range of technologies and the high-volume shipping experience, he has moved back to the Midwest to tackle larger challenges.

BROCK HOKENSON: Director of Operations and Finance

Brock served five years in the Navy as a Submarine Officer after receiving his commission from Officer Candidate School in 2002. After two patrols on the USS Alabama (SSBN 731), he was stationed on the USS Michigan (SSGN 727) for three years. Following his military experience, Brock received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

STEVE BEITLER

Steve is the founder and managing partner of Dunrath Capital, a venture capital firm specializing in security and defense companies. Prior to 2001, he served as a Managing Director and General Partner of Trident Capital, Inc., a private equity investment firm whose focus on information-based companies touched a wide range of markets, including financial services, healthcare, general business, and direct consumer markets. He has also served as Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition), where he gained extensive experience in commercializing innovations within the government and the military. Steve is a retired Army Green Beret.

MICHAEL GORTON

Michael is currently the CEO of Solar Park Initiatives, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Solar Energy Initiatives, Inc. Prior to joining Solar Park Initiatives, Michael was the Founder and CEO of several internet, healthcare and energy companies, including TelaDoc and Internet Global Services. Michael is familiar with the challenges of commercializing novel approaches to healthcare. TelaDoc was at the forefront of the developing practice of tele-medicine, once virtually unknown and now commonly accepted in the medical community. He began his career as a design engineer at Texas Utilities.

BRIGADIER GENERAL REBECCA HALSTEAD

Becky retired from the US Army in 2008, ending her 27-year distinguished career in the military. With her promotion to the rank of Brigadier General on 1 January 2005, she became the first female from the United States Military Academy to be promoted to General Officer rank. At her retirement, Becky was the 34th Chief of Ordnance for the US Army. She was commissioned in the Ordnance Corps upon graduation from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, in 1981. She holds a Masters degree in Military Art and Science from the Command and General Staff College and a Masters degree in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University.

PETER HAYES

Peter is currently a principal of Healthcare Solutions and has been in innovative, strategic benefit design for the past 20+ years. He was formerly the Director of Associate Health and Wellness at Hannaford Supermarkets, which has been recognized for the past three years by receiving the National business Group on Health Platinum Award for Health Promotion and Wellness programs. Peter has also been involved in health care reform leadership roles on both the national and regional levels with organizations like the Center for Health Innovation, Care Focused Purchasing, and Leapfrog and has been appointed by two different Maine Governors to serve on Health Care Reform Commissions to recommend public policies to improve the access and affordability of health care for Maine citizens.

BARBARA HILL

Barbara retired from her position as Chief Executive Officer of Value Options, Inc. in December of 2010, closing out a 30-year career in the healthcare industry. Before Value Options, Barbara served as Chairman and CEO of Woodhaven Health Services, an institutional pharmacy company; President and a member of the board of directors of Express Scripts, a Fortune 200 pharmacy benefits management company, serving over 50 million members; Senior Vice President of CIGNA HealthCare, where she was responsible for the company's national operations and managed a department of 14,000 people; and CEO and President of Rush Prudential Health Plans, a leading managed care company in the Chicago area. In 2003, she was named on Modern Healthcare Magazine's list of the 100 Most Powerful People in Health Care. She earned her B.A. and M.S. degrees from The Johns Hopkins University.

WILLIAM HOUSTON

Bill currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He founded Elsworth & Associates in 1995, a PE firm concentrating on middle-market manufacturing companies and high-technology start-ups. He is an alumnus of Amherst College, where he holds a B.A. cum laude in history, as well as the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where he received the Sloan Fellowship and a Master of Science in Management.
